FOUNDER & CO-PRESIDENT

Jessie founded Education+ in December of 2023 with the vision of making education more accessible around Goleta. Since then, the organization has reached over 100 families. She has always enjoyed working with students and watching them grow throughout their learning. Her experience includes teaching summer school, volunteering in local classrooms, working with non-profit organizations, conducting research, and interning at Breakthrough Greater Boston. Jessie is a senior at the University of California, Santa Barbara majoring in Sociology, minoring in Education with a concentration in Law, Deviance, and Social Control. She hopes to continue her career in the social justice field, helping children unlock their full potential and supporting them every step of the way.

CO-PRESIDENT

Fiona joined Education+ in its inaugural quarter and has since served as a tutor, then the Tutoring Coordinator, and now the Co-President. She is deeply passionate about the work Education+ does to mend educational disparities within the school system and has been an integral part to the organizations success. Fiona is a junior at the University of California, Santa Barbara majoring in History.

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Hannah has been part of Education+ since its founding. She began tutoring in middle and high school and brought her experience to Education+ during her first year of college. Serving as a tutor, Marketing Director, and now Operations Director, Hannah is eager to further the mission of this club alongside an incredibly talented leadership team. Hannah is a junior at the University of California, Santa Barbara majoring in Political Science. She is on the pre-law track and hopes to attend law school after graduation next year.

TUTORING COORDINATOR

Jill has been with Education+ for the past three years and has had an incredible time connecting with community members and helping make a difference in the Santa Barbara community. Jill is a junior at the University of California, Santa Barbara majoring in Dance and minoring in Education. From Clovis, California, she hopes to return post-grad to obtain her teaching credentials. In her future, Jill hopes to pursue teaching dance within public school systems and is extremely passionate about the field of elementary education. She is eager to see what Education+ accomplishes this academic year.

OUTREACH DIRECTOR

Sophia serves as the Education+ outreach director, working with local organizations and schools to create partnerships and community. She joined Education+ because she is passionate about education equity and loves working with kids. Sophia is a sophomore at the University of California, Santa Barbara and is double majoring in Political Science and History. As a pre-law student, she hopes to become a lawyer, specifically representing children as minor’s counsel in family law cases. Sophia is excited to make a positive impact in the Goleta community this year!

SPANISH EXPLORERS DIRECTOR

Stephanie is a senior at the University of California, Santa Barbara majoring in Biological Sciences. She has been involved with Education+ over the last two years where she served as a tutor to multiple students for several subjects. Stephanie began tutoring at the age of twelve and she has continued to share her love of learning ever since. As a native Spanish speaker, Stephanie was inspired to lead the Spanish Explorers Program to help children discover and enjoy the language that has always been a central part of her family and life. For her, the opportunity felt like the perfect fit. When Stephanie is not tutoring she spends her time volunteering at the hospital, working as a medical assistant, and studying as she continues on the pre-medical track.

MARKETING DIRECTOR

Mia joined Education+ last school year as a tutor. She is excited to continue her involvement within the organization beyond tutoring and into her new role as Marketing Director. Mia is a junior at the University of California, Santa Barbara double majoring in Psychological and Brain Sciences and Communication. Mia hopes to continue growing our program and to expand access to quality education to children in Goleta and Santa Barbara.
